The Washington Commanders led 24-14 in the third quarter but could not overcome missed throws, dropped passes and inopportune penalties, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-27 in Landover.
Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson hit newly acquired Mike Williams for a 32-yard score giving the Steelers a 28-27 lead with 2:22 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Steelers (7-2) clinched the game with 1:02 to go on 4th and 1 at the Washington 49 when Wilson drew Commanders rookie defensive lineman Johnnie Newton offsides.
Rookie sensation Jayden Daniels, in his first ordinary performance, finished 17-34 for 202 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and only 5 yards rushing on 3 carries.
Terry McLaurin had 5 catches for 113 yards for the Commanders, now 7-3.

The Commanders were without running back Brian Robinson, out with a knee injury, and kicker Austin Seibert who is battling a hamstring injury. Newly acquired cornerback Marshon Lattimore, expected to give the defense a big boost, did not play.
Next up for the Commanders: a Thursday night match-up with the Eagles in Philadelphia.
